Oh my goodness, I just realized it is Friday the 13th. How spooooooky! We’re officially almost to Halloween, but you won’t find anything scary in my house, except for 2 tiny skeletons, that are actually kind of cute.
Scary is not my thing and I haven’t watched a horror movie since “The Ring,” which scared the life out of me (I think I was around 14 then). After the movie, my brother picked me up from the theater and a deer ran out in front of us on a country road. Not cool man, not cool.
My brother is almost 10 years older than me, but acts younger than me. I honestly love him for that. He once took me to a cemetery at night when I was a teenager, and then started running for the car to leave me there. Pretty sure I ran faster than an NFL player that night, hahaha!
I am, however, all about Fall harvest..caramel apples, pumpkins, cider, mums...you know the happy things in Fall.
This week I worked on appetizers, specifically for the upcoming Holidays. This first one is perfect for Football and the Holidays. They were a staple in my husband’s house growing up and now we can’t make it a single holiday without making at least 2 batches. They are also 4 ingredients and so easy to make.
Bring in the bacon cream cheese rolls….
These are sometimes called pinwheels, and they use Crescent dough to wrap up a bacon, cream cheese and chive mixture. They aren’t the most sophisticated or classy appetizer, but they are so stinking delicious.

If you’re looking to impress guests or want some Holiday recipes that are easy, but look super elegant, look no further than this Burrata Bruschetta. It combines my classic bruschetta recipe with burrata over warm french bread and it is so tasty.
I like serving the bruschetta, burrata, and french bread in separate dishes, so guests can make their own toast up. Plus, burrata is super messy looking once you cut it open, so it just works better this way.
Another gem is this Baked Brie with fig jam. It’s wrapped up in phyllo dough then baked in the oven until golden. Then, it’s topped with warm candied pecans. It’s so yummy!
This one is great for Fall too, because it goes great with apples. Slice them right before serving, so they don’t turn brown.
What’s Popular on the Blog..
We are in Fall, yet my Grinder Salad recipe continues to be my most visited recipe. Weird, I know. Don’t people know that was like so two months ago, haha!
Next, we have these 5 recipes, which I consider to be much more Fall-ish…
Caramelized Brussels Sprouts- a new recipe, but has been trending this week.
Crispy Chicken Fritta- an Olive Garden Copycat recipe, that is much better (in my personal opinion)
Crescent Roll Cinnamon Rolls- a super easy breakfast idea that is great for busy holidays. These are really sweet, so know that going in.
Boneless Beef Short Ribs- If you’re ready for comfort food, you need these and don’t forget the mashed potatoes and gravy. It says optional, but I just do that so people don’t feel pressured…you need them.
Roast Beef Sliders-These are probably one of my favorite recipes. It’s always hard for me to pick, because I have like 30 favorites. These have a creamy horseradish mayo and are served hot with a garlic butter topping. I was having some kind of next level brain creativity that day and it worked for me.
I’m over here drooling over these..maybe I shall make them on Sunday. That’s it for this week. I hope everyone has a lovely weekend. Oh, me and the hubs have an anniversary on Sunday..12 years married..Ahhh, I feel old. I think I’ll keep him around :)
Happy Cooking!
