I’ve spent hours in the car over the past 8 days, in and out of campgrounds through Massachusetts & Maine, with two kids, a puppy and a sometimes moody husband. I’m feeling exhausted, in need of a shower, and also my soul feels refreshed all at the same time. It’s weird how traveling will do that to you.
Our trip started off in Cape Cod. It rained the entire time we were there, yet we were able to make it to Province Town for the day and eat lobster rolls, visit a seal on Marconi beach, and stop by a roadside stand and picked up some fresh peach and strawberry jam and fire roasted salsa. The towns are so quaint and I loved every minute.
Then came Maine, and I was even more smitten. The salty smell of old fishing towns and the rocky coastline. It was more beautiful than I ever expected. We enjoyed Clam Chowder at Two Lights near Portland, then walked through town. In the morning, we headed to Bradbury Mountain Berry Farm to hand pick strawberries. They were the most juicy, sweet berries I’ve ever picked.
Next, it was dreaded laundry day! It quickly turned into the best laundry day of my life because I left the load in the washer to go explore the town of Freeport Maine. I shopped, ate a turkey bacon sandwich on homemade focaccia and finished it off with a strawberry peach hand pie. OMG! So good!
Acadia was last on the list and Bar Harbor was probably my favorite portion of the trip. We ate at a restaurant on the harbor and it was a sunny & perfect day. Large sail boats and fishing boats came in and out of the harbor as we snacked on a charcuterie board with wild blueberry jam and ate steamed clams, mussels and more lobster!
I would be lying to you if I said there wasn’t challenges on the trip. We had them (kids arguing, no space in camper, 1 sick kid coughing all night the first 5 nights of the trip, a tick stuck to my back), but there were so many memories that we made that will last forever. If you have kids, remember that. Take the trip. Embrace the chaos. You only live once. Don’t wait until you’re too old to do the things you want to. Do it now and do it then too!
This Week’s Berry Baking
This week, we’ve got brand NEW berry desserts. Yes, I baked in Summer, but it’s only because these recipes are so easy!
We’re starting off with these tasty Lemon Blueberry cookies. They require no chilling time and come together so quickly for a delightful sweet and tart flavor.
I originally tried a glaze on top, but it was a fail and soaked through the cookies. Plus, my husband and kids said they looked like hamburgers with American Cheese. Gross! The lemon zest is much more appealing!

White Chocolate Raspberry Muffins
These White Chocolate Raspberry Muffins are the same sort of flavor..sweet and tart, and I’m loving them for Summer! They make a great breakfast and dessert!
We have about 6 hours until we’re home. I’m so excited to get back into the kitchen to start developing more recipes to share with you!
Talk to you next week. I hope everyone is having the best Summer.
