Happy Friday to all my favorite people! Seriously, the people who follow my newsletter are put on a pedestal in my life. Thanks for being here. You get a giant cookie!
This week flew by with the kids in their last few weeks of school and I spent lots of time with our puppy Hutch, who consumes my time, patience and energy. Today he slipped out of his harness on our walk and was gone. I spent a half hour chasing him… Hutch wears me out.
After the incident, we had a strict talk. I’m hoping he will learn to be more obedient now. Yea right! I actually got him back by yelling treat and I didn’t have one, so now the trust is forever broken.
Basil Lemonade
In the midst of all the weekly chaos, I did spend one day making fresh squeezed Basil Lemonade and I thought about the things I was grateful for. I think gratitude is really a piece of the puzzle in life. As you get older, the more buried you get in bills, life, responsibility, and it gets hard. If you’re feeling this, I challenge you to try and come up with 3 things you’re grateful for. It always makes me feel better.
Things I’m grateful for today: My two girls who have similar senses of humor to my own (I love laughing), our little home, and the fact that I get to write about what I love and that you actually read it (thank you)!
Back to lemonade…
This is your Sweet Southern kind of lemonade with loads of sugar, but I put a bit of a spin on it. I get very inspired by fresh herbs in Summer and I made a Basil Simple Syrup that just finished the lemonade perfectly. The recipe is only 4 ingredients too! It’s so good and I really hope you try it!

Lavender Lemonade
If you don’t like really sweet lemonade, or you just want to make both, try my Lavender Lemonade recipe. It’s bubbly with way less sugar, but equally delish, especially if you like Lavender.
Tonight the kids and I are headed to my parents to celebrate my Grandma’s birthday. We bought her chocolate. I feel like when I’m in my 80’s that’s exactly what I’ll want for my birthday. Specifically I will want milk chocolate truffles, a few stuffed with orange cream and a few with caramel and sea salt. Now I’m hungry for truffles. Maybe I should eat them now just in case I have no teeth then.
I hope you have a wonderful weekend and that the weather is beautiful wherever you’re from!
Talk to you next week~Happy Cooking!
